He is a Full Professor at the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering at the Politecnico di Milano and an expert in cybersecurity, with a particular focus on malware analysis, cyber-physical security, and financial fraud.
He has an extensive academic publication record, with over 131 papers published in high-level journals and conferences in the field of computer security. In addition to his research activities, he has played an active role in conference organization, serving both as chair and as a member of program committees. He has also been an elected member of the Board of Governors of the IEEE Computer Society and has held leadership roles within the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA), where he was named Fellow in 2014.
He has broad teaching experience, having delivered courses at undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD levels, and has supervised numerous graduate and doctoral students. Furthermore, he has founded three startups in the cybersecurity sector.
Zanero has also contributed to knowledge dissemination within both the hacker and industrial communities, frequently participating as an invited speaker at international conferences. In addition, he has been actively involved in peer review and editorial management for leading academic journals in cybersecurity.
