He is an Associate Professor at the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering at the Politecnico di Milano, where he works on image analysis and processing, as well as machine learning.
His research, published in leading journals and conferences, spans mathematical and statistical techniques for image processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on image restoration and analysis, as well as change detection and anomaly detection in non-stationary environments.
Boracchi has led or contributed to numerous industrial research projects with companies such as Gilardoni Raggi X and STMicroelectronics. He has supervised several PhD candidates and graduate students and has secured significant funding for his research activities. Additionally, he has established collaborations with internationally renowned research institutions and has received several awards for his work, including the IEEE TNNLS Outstanding Paper Award.
