The new speed record for PoliMOVE

PoliMOVE team broke the record at Cape Canaveral (FL) for the highest speed of an autonomous guide race vehicle. A new, important milestone for the autonomous guide research team of Politecnico di Milano, led by prof. Sergio Savaresi and in collaboration with the University of Alabama (USA), has raised the bar by reaching an incredible speed of 309,3 km/h. On the prestigious runway of Space Florida’s Launch & Landing Facility at Kennedy Space Center, the Dallara AV-21 vehicle is driven by the AS.CAR.I AI-pilot exceeded any expectations.

Quello del Politecnico è stato l’unico team autorizzato a fare questo tentativo, grazie alla vittoria ottenuta da PoliMOVE a Las Vegas nella Indy Autonomous Challenge. Tra qualche giorno il team cercherà di replicare l’impresa sul circuito di Atlanta, questa volta su una pista automobilistica e non su un rettilineo.

Politecnico’s team was the only one authorized to try this record, thanks to the victory of PoliMOVE at Las Vegas in the Indy Autonomous Challenge. In a few days, the team will try to repeat the record on Atlanta’s track, on a regular race track and not on a straightaway.
